The University of Southern Mississippi will host Philosophical Fridays, a series of lectures featuring guest speakers who will speak on a philosophical topic of general interest. The discussions are intended to be non-technical and appealing to those inside and outside the classroom. Organized by the Department of Philosophy and Religion in the College of Arts and Letters, the lectures are free and open to the public, made possible with generous assistance from the Mississippi Humanities Council. The series has been very successful and enriching for those who attend the lectures.

All lectures will occur on Hattiesburg’s Southern Miss campus in the Liberal Arts Building.

The first lecture in the series is planned for Friday, September 13 at 2:00 p.m. in Liberal Arts Building, Room 108. David Shoemaker of Tulane University will present One Life to Live: Why You’ll Never Make It to Heaven.

For more information about any of these lectures, contact the Department of Philosophy and Religion by calling 601.266.4518.
