Mississippi Health Access Collaborative

Mississippi Health Access Collaborative

The Mississippi Health Access Collaborative (MHAC) ended in September 2018. It provided free Navigator services to build sustainable access to health coverage for vulnerable and hard-to-reach citizens across the 24 southernmost counties in Mississippi.

These counties included Adams, Amite, Pike, Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, Lincoln, Lawrence, Walthall, Wilkinson, Forrest, Lamar, Greene, Wayne, Jeff Davis, Covington, Jones, Perry, Marion, George, Jackson, Harrison, Stone, and Pearl River.

With federally trained healthcare Navigators, the organization helped consumers enroll in health coverage options. Navigators are unbiased, and their services are free to consumers. They assisted with the following:

  • Creating a marketplace account
  • Providing unbiased decisions and education with picking a plan
  • Explaining insurance terminology (i.e. co-pay, deductible, MEC, QHP, etc.)
  • Providing enrollment assistance for Medicaid/CHIP
