Brown Girl Dreaming

Each year, more than 400 teachers and librarians from across the nation come to the University of Southern Mississippi to hear major speakers and participate in concurrent sessions and workshops as authors, illustrators, and experts in the field share their knowledge and experience. CEUs are available for Mississippi educators.

We are pleased to announce that the 2016 Festival will be held April 6-8 with Medallion winner Jacqueline Woodson!  Keynote speakers include Keats Lecturer Michael Cart,George O'ConnorJoyce SidmanMelissa Sweet, Coleen Salley Storytelling Award winner Tim Tingle, and Rita Williams-Garcia.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the de Grummond Collection we are thrilled to welcome back 2003 Medallion winner Lois Lowry as the de Grummond Lecturer.

We are also pleased to celebrate the 100th birthday of Ezra Jack Keats (1916-1983) with a special Centennial Keats Lecture given by Deborah Pope.
