Randy Swan

Randy Swan, a Southern Miss graduate, is news editor and anchor at WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg, Miss.  Now a local broadcasting legend, he became a full-time radio broadcaster at the age of fifteen while working his way through Hattiesburg High School.  He began television career in 1976 as morning anchor and reporter for WDAM.  He was named news director and main anchor in 1982.  He has covered everything from the overthrow of the Nicaraguan government in 1979 to every major hurricane and natural disaster in Mississippi since Hurricane Camille in 1969.  He considers leading WDAM’s coverage of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 the highlight of his career.  Swan has spent most of his entire television career at WDAM, except for a five-year stay in the early 1990s as station manager, news director and anchor for WABG in Greenville.  He was elected to the Mississippi Associated Press Hall of Fame in 2006 and to the MCJ Hall of Fame in 2009.
