Requirements

 

In order to be eligible to participate as an AmeriCorps member an individual must:

  • be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States;
  • be a minimum of 17 years of age at the commencement of service;
  • have a high school diploma or equivalency GED certificate (and who has not dropped out of elementary or secondary school in order to enroll as an AmeriCorps member);
  • pass a federal and state criminal history background and FBI fingerprinting check and the National Sexual Offenders Public Registry Check (NSOPW);
  • Have a desire to utilize the AmeriCorps education award for college tuition or pay back student loans
