Course Completion Reminder-Complete by End of Semester

As an annual requirement, all faculty, staff, adjuncts and student employees must complete each of the following courses on an annual basis. These courses will all be available for access either on the one year anniversary of your first enrollment or for new staff on the first day that they are shown as active in their role within SOAR. 

Upon enrollment/on your renewal date, you will receive an email from the vendor Workplace Answers (via training@workplaceanswers.com) that contains a unique (personalized) link (URL) that once selected will allow the learner to access their specific courses without having to log in using their SOAR credentials.  

Complete by End of Fall

  • Code of Conduct for Higher Education
  • Preventing Discrimination and Sexual Violence: Title IX, VAWA, and Clery Act/ Preventing Discrimination and Sexual Violence Refresher: Title IX, VAWA, and Clery Act
  • Security Awareness (has been replaced by the Securing the Human course-(accessible on another system)Access the Security Awareness Announcement by logging into Info Center
  • Unlawful Harassment Prevention/Implicit Bias- if you completed the Unlawful Harassment course last year

If you want to get ahead, then you can complete the following courses before the spring semester: 

  • Bullying Prevention for Higher Education
  • Diversity Benefits for Higher Education
  • FERPA for Higher Education
  • Unlawful Harassment Prevention for Supervisor/Implicit Bias- if you completed the Unlawful Harassment course last year
  • PCI* -all who work with PCI (payment card industry) data handled under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) as defined in the Information Incident Security Management policy. (This course has been replaced by the Securing the Human course-which is accessible on another system).

Minors on Campus Education
Course name: Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention; Authorized adults or program staff who oversee minors in program activities, or recreational or residential facilities MUST complete this course. To determine if you serve in such a role, please review the Minors on Campus policy and if you have further questions, please contact the Office of General Counsel at 601.266.4466 or generalcounsel@usm.edu.

FCOI
Course name: Completing the Financial Conflict of Interest Disclosure; This course MUST be completed by all faculty on an annual basis.    

The course "Learning About USM’s Financial Conflict of Interest" is available upon request. Only those whose sponsoring organization requires that they complete an institution-specific FCOI course are required to complete this course. Email Compliance@usm.edu to be enrolled.
