Academic and Professional Interests:
Dr. Madson’s research focuses on college student alcohol use, protective behavioral strategies and harm reduction, and motivational interviewing (MI). He teaches graduate courses in systems of psychotherapy, alcohol and drug intervention and supervises advanced practicum. At the undergraduate level Dr. Madson teaches courses in health psychology, alcohol and drug, and workshop in counseling procedures.
Professional Honors and Achievements:
Dr. Madson serves as Theory and Research Section Editor for Motivational Interviewing: Training, Research, Implementation and Practice. He has received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Delta Health Alliance and the American Psychological Foundation. He is a Licensed Psychologist in Mississippi.
