Tobacco Don't Light It - Fight It

Smoking is bad, okay?  Actually, using any kind of tobacco is bad for you.  Even though people know  it is bad for them, they still choose to smoke and use tobacco products.  Did you know that 90% of people who smoke started smoking before they turned 18?   The nicotine in cigarettes and other tobacco products is very addictive and makes it very hard to quit even if you really want to.  It is much easier to not start smoking or using tobacco than it is to quit.  No matter how many of your friends or family members do it or how cool it looks, “Don’t Light It!  Fight It!”

This page was created through a collaboration between the Tobacco Control Strategies for Mississippians with Disabilities Project, TRIAD AmeriCorps, Step Up Council, and Project Search at the Institute for Disability Studies.  The original tobacco cessation materials were created by young people with and without disabilities.  Funding for the Tobacco Control Strategies Project is provided by the Mississippi State Department of Health Office of Tobacco Control.
