Notice of Intent to Apply for 21st Century Community Learning Centers

The University of Southern Mississippi School of Education and principal investigator, Dr. Jo Hawkins-Jones, provide this notice of intent to apply for the Nita M. Lowery 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) grant to benefit Rowan Elementary School in the Hattiesburg Public School District. The purpose of the i.R.O.C.K. Academy + 21st CCLC Program is to emphasize literacy remediation and enrichment and promote social-emotional development in students. Other proposed benefits include the Family Literacy Hub and monthly parent and family workshops to promote family literacy and engagement. The suggested program could meet during non-school hours and when school is not in session, such as after school or during summer recess. 

The University of Southern Mississippi is responsible for submitting the application for funding, due August 13, 2021.
