Dr. Michael Anestis
Associate Professor
Bio
Dr. Anestis received his PhD from Florida State University and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Psychology and Director of the Suicide and Emotion Dysregulation lab. He also currently serves as admissions director for the clinical psychology doctoral program. His research interests focus on risk factors for and the prevention of suicide within both military and civilian populations. He has a particular interest in the role of firearms and suicide and recently published a book on the topic entitled "Guns and Suicide: An American Epidemic." Dr. Anestis was the 2018 winner of the American Association of Suicidology's Edwin Shneidman award for early career achievement in suicide research.
