Keltoum Rowland

Instructor of French

Keltoum Rowland was born in Algeria in North Africa. She was educated in several different countries, including France, where she obtained her Licence in English. She holds a Master of Arts in the Teaching of Languages from USM with dual emphases in French and TESOL. She coordinates the lower-level French program (FRE 101-202) and also teaches upper-division courses in conversation, culture, and reading. In addition, she serves as faculty adviser to the French Club, whose objective is to promote French language and culture on campus (look for the Association Française de USM on Facebook). She has presented at the Mississippi Foreign Language Association (MFLA) and at the Southern Conference on Language Teaching (SCOLT). She has also served as the President of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) for the state of Mississippi. Keltoum co-directs the summer French in France program in Paris. Currently, she is serving as the Honorary Consul of France to Hattiesburg, for the state of Mississippi.
