Research and scholarship are essential to meeting the vision and mission of the College of Nursing and Health Professions at The University of Southern Mississippi. Through research and scholarship, faculty and students can advance nursing practice and education as well as improve health outcomes of those we serve.
The BSN-DNP option requires 73 hours over 3 years. The MSN option requires 46 credits during 5 semesters of full time study including summers. The Post-Graduate Certificate option requires 28 credit hours during 5 semesters. Our Nurse Practitioner programs are fully aligned with the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Competencies for Nurse Practitioners and the APRN Consensus Model. Upon completion of the Nurse Practitioner programs, graduates are eligible to obtain APRN Board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
The didactic courses are online with one campus visit per semester and students complete clinical requirements in their own community or nearby communities. Both full time and part time study is available.
