Application for Graduate Degree/Certificate

 

An application for degree must be filed with the Graduate School no later than the published deadlines as set by the University Registrar's Office.  Degree/Certificate applications must be filed the semester before the anticipated graduation date by the deadline. Late applications for graduation will not be accepted.

The following instructions will help students complete the required form for Degree Application.

  • Complete and download the Application for Degree/Certificate by logging into your Student Center in SOAR. View instructions for how to complete application using SOAR.
  • Print and sign the application and take it to your program for required signatures.
  • Pay the appropriate application fee by selecting the "Pay Fees" link at https://www.usm.edu/graduate-school (see below). Be sure to print proof of your payment.
  • Attach all required documents (signed Application for Degree, proof of payment*, and current Plan of Study (if admitted prior to Fall 2017)) and bring to the Graduate Degree Auditor in the Graduate School, McCain Library, Room 211.
  • Online students may scan and email their signed application and required documents their advisor.

Once you have received your email confirmation of payment, please print copy to be submitted with your application for graduation

Doctoral Fee $250
Masters and Specialist Fee (Thesis) $75
Masters and Specialist Fee (Non-Thesis) $50
Graduation Deferment Fee (First graduation deferment fee is waived.) $50
Certificate Fee $50

 

Graduation Deferment

If after applying for graduation, you decide you will be unable to graduate on time, you may defer your graduation by completing a new application for graduation. Be sure to select "Postpone/Defer application" when completing your new application.
