New Graduate Student Orientation

Welcome to Gradaute picture

The Graduate School hosts new student orientations on the Hattiesburg and the Gulf Park campus at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. We highly recommend that all new graduate school students attend. All graduate students who will be serving as graduate assistants for the first time are required to attend. The orientation will provide students with important information about university policies, resources and support that will assist students in having a meaningful and successful graduate student experience at Southern Miss.

Academic Program Orientations
In addition to the Graduate School orientation, some academic programs have separate orientations. Please check with your academic department or specific program for information on orientation.

Getting Your Student Photo ID Card
Student photo IDs can be obtained at the Image Center located on the lower level of the Thad Cochran Center on the Hattiesburg Campus or Hardy Hall, Room 232 on Gulf Park Campus. Every new student coming to the Image Center for a student ID must have a university issued ID number and a government issued photo ID (Driver's license, passport, military ID, etc.) as confirmation of identity.

Online students do not have to have a photo ID unless they are using on campus services. However, if you are an online student and would like an ID, please follow the steps below

Call Photo Services 601.266.4149 to pay $11 fee over the phone. Photo Services accept VISA and MasterCard.

Using your student ID number, Photo Services will confirm your student status, print the ID card and mail it to the address listed in SOAR within 3-5 working days. Online students are not required to have a photo on their IDs.
