Dr. Casey Maugh Funderburk

Dr. Casey Maugh Funderburk is Associate Provost for the Gulf Coast and Associate Professor of Communication Studies. She earned her M.A. in Communication Studies from Colorado State University, and her Ph.D. in Communication Arts & Sciences from the Pennsylvania State University.  She also holds a teaching certificate and doctoral minor in Women and Gender Studies.  Dr. Maugh Funderburk teaches courses in Rhetorical Theory and Criticism, Political Communication, Gender Communication, Visual Communication, Business Communication, and Public Speaking.  Her research interests include visual rhetoric, cultural studies, rhetorical theory and criticism, political communication and public memory studies.  As a former Peace Corps volunteer and a native Mississippian, her research is concerned with how public memory frames rhetorical action both globally and locally.
