The goals and purpose of this organization are as follows:

  • To provide a supportive, safe social setting for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersexed, asexual (LGBTQQIA) persons and their straight friends and supporters, as well as any other interested parties recognized parties recognizing sexual diversity on the Southern Miss Gulf Coast campus.
  • To provide educational resources to the college and community regarding issues of gender and sexual diversity.
  • To provide a vehicle of social and political action in regards to issues of gender and sexual diversity on a local, state, national and international level.
  • To act as an ally to other organization dealing with issues pertinent to our own membership body.
  • To assist in programs that will benefit the entire gulf coast community.

Smile for Equality

Join us on March 29 at 12:15 p.m. in Eagle Plaza on the Gulf Park campus for the Southern Miss Alliance for Equality’s Third Annual Smile for Equality event. Spring Semester Safe Place Social Hour

The Alliance for Equality will host relaxed lunchtime gatherings called the Safe Place Social Hour this spring in the Lobby of Elizabeth Hall from 12:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. These gatherings will take place on the first Tuesday of each month. Those dates will be:

  • February 2
  • March 1
  • April 5
