Phi Alpha Theta, the History Honor Society, visited the Armed Forces Retirement Home-Gulfport on Nov. 21 to assist in decorating holiday stockings and wrapping residents' gifts.

The Department of History at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach will present a lecture and book discussion by Dr. Kyle Longley on Monday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. Longley, author and professor of history at Arizona State University, will give a talk about his latest book “The Morenci Marines: A Tale of Small Town America and the Vietnam War.” A discussion will follow.

Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, Armed Forces Retirement Home

Gulf Coast Phi Alpha Theta members Charlie Carlee (President) and Hayley Whitehead accept a certificate of appreciation at the annual Volunteer Recognition ceremony at the Armed Forces Retirement Home on May 29, 2014. For the last three years, Gulf Coast members of Phi Alpha Theta have been visiting the Assisted Living unit of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in December to visit with residents, decorate Christmas stockings, and wrap presents. Phi Alpha Theta is the international honors society for history majors.
