Introduction of Systems Leadership & Health Outcomes

The Department of Systems Leadership and Health Outcomes encompasses the Doctor of Philosophy Program, the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, and the Nurse Executive Program.  Each program emphasizes leadership in nursing practice and prepares nurse scholars for leadership in clinical, educational, and administrative positions.


The Doctor of Philosophy Program prepares scholars to contribute to the science and practice of nursing through systematic research inquiry and theory development. The Program Director for the PhD Program is Dr. Janie Butts.



The Doctor of Nursing Practice Program prepares advanced practice nurses for the highest level of nursing practice through the application of nursing knowledge to improve health care for all populations. The Program Director of the DNP Program is Dr. Marcus Gaut.


Leadership in Nursing BSN-DNP  prepares transformational nurse leaders who efficiently administrate and manage complex health systems, evaluate and use evidence to improve outcomes, and strategically develop and manage human capital.
