Teacher Education Scholars Loan/Scholarship Program


Created by the Mississippi legislature during the 2013 session, the Teacher Education Scholars Loan/Scholarship Program provides a $15,000 per year award to cover educational expenses (tuition, books, room & board, etc.) for qualifying students for up to four years.  

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Students must enroll in a program of study leading to a Class "A" teacher license.
  • Students must achieve a composite ACT score of 28.
  • Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5, for both incoming freshmen and continuing students.
  • Students must complete the online application and submit all documentation.  (Application deadline:  March 31, Supporting document deadline - April 30)
The Teacher Education Scholars Loan will be forgiven once recipients have taught in Mississippi public schools for five full years following degree completion and licensure.

Southern Miss Gulf Coast offers degrees in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Dual Licensure in Elementary Education and Special Education.
