Southern Miss offers Honors Keystone on the Gulf Coast! An honors education and the Latin designation that accompanies it (cum laude, magna cum laude or summa cum laude, depending on your GPA) are indications that you have committed yourself to a program of study that emphasizes research. You will take classes in research skills and, in your senior year, complete a thesis on a topic that particularly interests you, giving you experiences not available to most undergraduates.
The College provides a special education for a special group of people. To enter, and to maintain your place, you must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a minimum of 40 credit hours; ideally, you will also have four semesters remaining until your graduation. If you are accepted, you will have special advisement and personal academic support as you prepare for graduate school, professional school, or a career.
We hope you will consider joining our prestigious program!
