Students obtaining a B.S. in Mathematics study the theory and applications of calculus, learn the fundamental logic needed for deductive reasoning, and develop the ability to write proofs. They develop an understanding of the breadth of the mathematical sciences and their deep interconnecting principles, and an awareness of the abstract nature of theoretical mathematics. Additionally, they learn to construct algorithms and write programs in a high level language to solve mathematical problems and to simulate and visualize mathematical ideas and processes.
