Honors College Recruitment and Retention Initiatives
- Do you want to be a leader in the Honors College?
- Do you have a positive attitude and enjoy working with fellow students and members of the Southern Miss family and local community?
- Would you like to shape the future of the HC?
The HC offers two student leadership opportunities: HC Ambassador and First-Year Mentoring Program.
Honors College Ambassador
As an Ambassador, you serve as the official hosts of the Honors College. You are the “face” of the Southern Miss Honors College to prospective students and parents, assisting at Honors College recruitment events both on our campus, in high schools, and at college fairs. Through these activities, you will promote the Southern Miss Honors College—and develop valuable communication and leadership skills along the way. Additionally you play a crucial role in student retention, helping to plan social and community building events for the College as a whole.

First-Year Mentoring Program
As a Mentor, you will motivate freshmen to success academically, socially, and emotionally as they transition from high school to college life. Serving as a source of support, encouragement, and fun for incoming students, during the Fall semester you will engage in social and community service activities so your mentees become engaged with the community of Southern Miss and Hattiesburg as a whole! Introduce them to all your favorite things and share all the best secrets of success you’ve gained in your time here.
