Peer Academic Liaison Program
The Department of Housing and Residence Life's Peer Academic Liaison Program (PAL) is focused on giving first-year students, who live in the residence halls, support transitioning to college life, help connecting to campus resources, and academic assistance in a variety of classes. A PAL is an upper-class student paired with a first-year community, who provides students guidance with navigating their first year as Golden Eagles. PALs also provide academic assistance in a variety of subjects. Based on each Peer Academic Liaison's academic background, courses are selected for each PAL to provide assistance. Throughout the year, PALs can typically be found in our residence hall lounge areas. Feel free to drop in and talk with them at any time!
If you do meet with a Peer Academic Liaison to work on a specific course, please make sure to bring your materials with you. Your textbook, notes from class, the assignment requirements, etc. all help to make the time you spend with a PAL more effective and beneficial for you! Also, if you have worked individually with a PAL and are emailing them directly with follow-up questions, please make sure to use your USM email.
If you have any questions or need academic assistance in a class, please email us at palFREEMississippi. We hope to see you soon!
