For many years, USM Copy Services set out to provide the University community with
reliable, high-quality printing services. As an auxiliary unit, Copy Services operations
are intended to be supported by the revenue generated. Over the past several fiscal
years, the revenue has fallen short of the operating expenses of the department. Currently
faced with aging equipment and other costly challenges, Copy Services will close at
the end of 2019.
There are a number of printing service vendors that can help meet the University’s
- Printing services for materials such as brochures, rack cards, postcards, invitations
and booklets can be facilitated through the Office of University Communications by
completing a Print Facilitation Request. Print jobs facilitated by University Communications will be awarded to a commercial
print vendor based on a competitive quote, and printing charges will be interdepartmentally
billed to the university unit.
- Large-format posters, signs and banners can also be purchased via procurement card
or by entering a requisition in SOAR-Fin. Commonly used vendors for these items include
Signs First, Bourne Brothers Printing Inc. and American Printing & Signs.
- Quick copy and printing for items such as flyers, teaching materials, handouts and
documents can be purchased via procurement card or by entering a requisition in SOAR-Fin.
Commonly used vendors for these items include Copy Cats Printing, FedEx Office and
the UPS Store.
- Orders for business cards, letterhead and envelopes will be suspended until February
as the University works to implement a new system for placing these orders. Information
will be distributed in January regarding this process.

funds must be reviewed by University Communications
prior to being produced and must meet the standards set forth in University Graphic Standards
and the Style Guide
. Items that do not need to be reviewed by University Communications include teaching
materials, technical documents and internal reports. Copy paper
can be ordered through our state contract vendor, Newell Paper. Copy paper orders
can be delivered to University Receiving and distributed to campus. Students
can use in-house print stations and labs for everyday classroom printing. Printing locations
are available on the Hattiesburg and Gulf Park campuses. Non-standard print jobs
can be ordered through the same printing vendors outlined above and delivered to a
USM Post Office box or other address.
