National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. From September 15th to October 15th, the Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement and our Gulf Park campus partners, share history, heritage, and accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino Americans of past and present.
Hispanic Heritage Celebration Events

Location: IME Multipurpose Center, HUB 100
Join IME in celebrating the history and splendor of Hispanic Heritage month with our very first game night! Participants with have the chance to win prizes during our Kahoot! Trivia and Loteria games.
Culturally themed foods will be served.

Join the IME Team in a night of laughter, fun and rhythm. Learn how to shake and move your hips in our Beginner Latin dance class! Participants will learn moves to popular dances such as Bachata, Salsa, and even Meringue!

Location: Mississippi City Cemetery, Gulfport, MS
Join us for a Día de Muertos inspired celebration as we clean the Mississippi City Cemetery. After the event, we will have lunch at an authentic, Mexican restaurant.

The goal of Hispanic Heritage Month is to give students access to events and information to help them become more culturally aware and competent with regard to the Latinx community and prominent figures and moments in the history and culture. By providing events centered on educational, social, and cultural aspects related to Hispanic Heritage Month, we hope to help those from other backgrounds learn more about and become advocates for the Latinx community.
