Our History

The University of Southern Mississippi's Office of Inclusion & Multicultural Engagement was officially established in 2021 and has undergone a history of name changes since its inception at the University of Southern Mississippi. In the 1980s, the Office of Minority Affairs laid the foundation for us to exist. Then, 20 years later, becoming the Office of Multicultural Affairs and, a few years later, the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services. After students protested in 2020 for more resources and an office dedicated to supporting diversity, inclusion, and promoting social justice. As a result, Hub 100, historically known as the "old post office," was renovated and is now affectionately known as "IME."
