Policy StatementStudents living in family and special interest housing should provide their own rental insurance. Reason for Policy/PurposeThis policy is required for the effective communication of university policy regarding the liability for family and special interest housing.

Definitions
Policy/ProceduresThe university does not assume any liability for loss, damage or theft of any personal property; for personal injury resulting from explosion, fire, mechanical failure of the water, sewage, gas or electrical systems; or for negligence by occupants of the building.
All personal property placed on the premises shall be at the risk of the resident or owner of such property. The university shall not be held responsible for the loss or damage of such property. Residents wishing to protect themselves from the possibility of such losses or personal injury should purchase appropriate insurance.
In the event of theft, residents should report the details to the University Police Department at 601.266.4986.
ReviewThe Director of Student Housing Administration is responsible for the review of this policy every four years (or whenever circumstances require immediate review).
