    Sharing Documents in Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive

    OneDrive is cloud storage provided by Microsoft intended for storing and organizing work/educational related documents. All files stored in OneDrive are private initially unless you decide to share them. You can easily make a file available to everyone at the university by placing it in the "Shared with Everyone" folder, or you can share files with specified users for collaborative projects. Currently, the university does not allow you to share files with external users. 

    Alternatively, if you want to ensure that you are not sharing sensitive files or data you believe should be private, please follow these steps:

    1. Open an internet browser. 
    2. Navigate to “Portal.Office.com.” 
    3. Select the “OneDrive” icon.
      a. Review the sharing column and make sure the correct permissions are applied. 
      b. Select the “Shared with Everyone” folder and ensure the data in that folder is data you want to share with everyone.

    SOARHR, SOAR and SOARFIN Downtime Scheduled for September 1

    SOAR, SOARHR and SOARFIN will down for maintenance on Thursday, September 1 from 8 p.m. - midnight. Users will not be able to log into these systems during the scheduled downtime.

    SOARHR and SOAR Downtime Scheduled for Aug. 13

    SOARHR will be down for maintenance on Saturday, Aug. 13, from midnight-2 p.m. SOAR will be down for maintenance from 2 a.m.-6 p.m. Users will not be able to log into these systems during the scheduled downtime.

    Student Email Change to Office 365

    Effective Aug. 24, all active student email addresses will be updated in SOAR to an @usm.edu address, which is a part of Microsoft Office 365. At that time, the EagleApps account (@eagles.usm.edu) will no longer serve as the university’s communication contact.  All official university email will be sent to your Outlook account (@usm.edu).

    The naming convention for new student emails is first name.last name@usm.edu, with some variation for account users sharing the same name. You can log into Outlook and confirm your email address by clicking on the avatar in the top right corner of the screen.

    Log in to Outlook 

    Username: W+ID#@usm.edu  (ex: w123456@usm.edu)
    Password: CampusID Password  

    In addition to having access to web versions, students will be able to download Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus applications on up to 5 devices (PC, Mac, and/or mobile devices - Android or iOS). Learn how you can take advantage of Microsoft Office 365 for your computer and mobile devices.

    University-wide Network Outage Scheduled Aug. 4

    There will be a university-wide network outage on Thursday, Aug. 4, from 9-10 p.m. Access to internet and all services that require internet connectivity will be affected. These services include, but are not limited to, email, Blackboard and non-USM web pages.
