SOAR Downtime Scheduled May 26
SOAR will be down for maintenance on Thursday, May 26, from 8 p.m.-midnight.
Users will not be able to log into SOAR during this time. You can go to the iTech website for an up-to-date system status. If you need to address an issue concerning any of the outages, contact the iTech Help Desk at 601.266.HELP (4357).
HR Department Number Changes in SOAR, SOARFIN and SOARHR
On Monday, May 16, the university will make a change in SOAR, SOARHR and SOARFIN relating to a field called the “HR Department Number.” This change is necessary to facilitate future system upgrades and improve functionality.
Previously, the HR Department Number was equated to the chartfield/budget string of a department. Once the changes are made, you will no longer use or see the HR Department Number in SOAR, SOARHR or SOARFIN. Instead, you will see the finance department number*, and in place of using the HR Department number, the systems will now use the full budget string, such as:
The HR Department Number is currently used on several USM forms. Until new forms are disseminated, please plan to include the full budget string along with the HR Department Number until after May 15, at which time only the full budget string will be used. You will receive more information from individual departments on changes that are specific to them, but until then if you have questions, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are also systems that extract data from SOAR, SOARHR, and SOARFIN, and some that send data back to those SOAR systems. If your department has a system with an interface to/from SOAR, SOARHR, or SOARFIN that contains the HR Department Number, and you have not been contacted by an iTech representative, please put in a work order with the Help Desk so we can assist you.
SOARHR will be down for maintenance from Friday, May 13, from 5 p.m. until Monday, May 16, at 8 a.m. Users will not be able to log into SOARHR during this time and will not be able to use items in the USM HR/Payroll Self Service Items folder in SOAR.

University Wireless Changes Scheduled May 23
Beginning Monday, May 23, the “USM” wireless network will no longer be available. Please switch to the “eduroam” wireless network now.
eduroam is for all USM faculty, staff and students and provides the same access that the USM network provided. Guest from reciprocating eduroam institutions may also access this network for unrestricted Internet access. This network has no connection timeouts and bandwidth is unrestricted.

Scam Of The Week: Prince Last Words On Video
Yesterday, news broke that Prince Rogers Nelson was found dead in his home in Minneapolis at age 57. Internet criminals are going to exploit this celebrity death in a number of ways, so be careful with anything related to Price's death: emails, attachments, any social media (especially Facebook), texts on your phone, anything. There will be a number of scams related to this, so Think Before You Click!
Also, with the recent earthquakes in Ecuador and Japan, there are charity scams sticking up their ugly heads. If you want to make donations, go to your favorite charity by opening your browser and type their link in the address bar. Do not click on any links in emails.

SOARHR will be down for maintenance on Saturday, April 16, from 2 a.m.-midnight. SOAR and SOARFIN will down for maintenance on Saturday, April 16, from 2 a.m. - 2 p.m. Users will not be able to log into these systems during the scheduled downtime.
