How to Set Up Lync on a Mobile Device

This app has to first be downloaded from the App Store/Google Play/Marketplace. Simply search for Lync 2013, then download and install on your device.

One of the bonuses to using Lync 2013 is that you can join meetings from your phone. This allows you to join a meeting, even if you can't be physically next to your computer. There are some features that are not available on the mobile version, such as desktop sharing, but the basic functionality is there. For instructions on setting up Lync on your iPhone/iPad, Android, or Windows Phone, scroll down until you find your device.

For iPhones and other iOS Devices

  1. Tap the "Lync App" on your iPhone home screen after it has been downloaded and installed on your device.

  2. Enter your username (w+ID#@usm.edu) and CampusID password. Select "Sign In."

  3. Lync will then start the auto log in process.

  4. Lync will then ask you for your mobile phone number. You must enter this as it is how Lync will connect you to your meetings.

  5. Select "Done."

  6. Select "OK."

  7. Your Lync account will then open on your mobile device.

For Android Devices

  1. Once you search for Lync 2013 in the Google Play Store, download and install it on your device.

  2. Once the application is installed, go to your applications screen and select the Lync icon.

  3. Enter your University username (w+ID#@usm.edu) and CampusID password. Select "Sign In."

  4. Lync will ask you for your mobile phone number. You must enter this as it is how Lync will connect you to your meetings.
  5. Your Lync account will then open on your mobile device.

For Windows Devices

  1. Search for Lync 2013 from the Windows Mobile App Store Marketplace. Then download and install the app to your device.
  2. Once the app has been installed, then go to your applications screen and select the Lync icon.

  3. Enter your University username (w+ID#@usm.edu) and CampusID password. Select "Sign In."

  4. Make sure "Turn On Wi-Fi for VOIP Calls" is on. Select Next.
  5. Your mobile number should already be entered, but, if not, enter it so you can be connected to meetings. Select "Next." Sync Contacts and select "Next." Select "Done."
  6. Your Lync account will then open on your mobile device.
