Network and Wireless Services
We provide services related to requests, activations, service changes and repairs. Services include: Virtual Private Network (VPN), wired access and wireless access.
This network is for all USM faculty, Staff, and Students. Guest from reciprocating eduroam institutions may also access this network for unrestricted Internet access. This network has no connection timeouts and bandwidth is unrestricted.
How to Activate "eduroam" Wireless Network
Faculty, Staff and Students can connect devices to the "eduroam" wireless network by following these simple steps:
- Select the "eduroam" network.
- User name: W+IDfirstname.lastname@example.org (ex: email@example.com)
Password: CampusID Password

This network is for unaffiliated visitors. There are restrictions that limit the bandwidth to 2Mbps, requires users to acknowledge terms and conditions through a web browser when connecting, and comes with a 4-hour session timeout.

To request service
Students in Residence Halls: Instructions on how to connect gaming or mobile device to the USM wireless network.
Students with gaming devices - Students will use SOAR to enter devices and the MAC address for each device.
The Southern Miss network is available 24/7, except for scheduled maintenance periods.
