The purposes of this organization are as follows: 1. To serve and act on behalf of the needs, rights, and well-being of all children and families in South Mississippi, with special emphasis on developmental and education services and resources. 2. To partner with the College of Education and Psychology Student Advisement and Support Center to offer academic support department wide. 3. To compile and disseminate information regarding children and families to appropriate stakeholders based on current research. 4. To foster the growth and development of the membership in their work with, and on behalf of children and families. This will be accomplished by offering members opportunities to 1) meet with leaders in the community, 2) work directly with families and children, 3) exchange ideas with other students, and 4) develop child and family advocacy skills.

EMSA’s goals include providing students with professional development opportunities in the field of education, participating in community service, advocating on behalf of student interests, participating in initiatives of the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education, and promoting and supporting teacher education at The University of Southern Mississippi.

Library and Information Science Student Association
The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Library and Information Science Student Association (LISSA) strives to support and contribute to the professional development and education of library and information science students, both graduate and undergraduate, at the USM School of Library and Information Science (SLIS). LISSA works to provide SLIS students with an active channel of communication and representation with the administration and faculty, and encourages professional contacts within the field of librarianship. Membership is open to all USM SLIS students.

The Physical Education Major Club (PEM) is a student organization that strives to expand the overall scope of students’ educational experiences by promoting educational activities and allowing students to establish closer contact with those who are involved in the profession of physical education. This club prides itself on hosting fundraising opportunities in order to raise funds to attend the annual AAHPERD state convention and possible national conventions. The PEM Club is open to students majoring or minoring in Physical Education.

The purpose of Student Archivists • To acquaint members with the objectives, ethics, activities, and publications of the archival profession and the Society of American Archivists (SAA) • To provide opportunities for members to discuss archival issues and the archival profession, interact with professional archivists, and engage in professional activities. • To promote collaboration and communication with other student groups within The University of Southern Mississippi and with other organizations such as the Society of Mississippi Archivists (SMA) in order to develop the mutual interests of the library and archival professions.
