Douglas Rust

Associate Director, Associate Professor of Theory


Dr. Douglas Rust joined the faculty of the School of Music at Southern Miss in 2007, after having taught music theory at Centenary College of Louisiana, Southwestern University and Texas A & M University. He holds a Ph.D. in music theory from Yale University and a B.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas.

His research interests include twentieth century concert music and jazz. Dr. Rust has published in Music Theory Spectrum, the Musical Quarterly, Current Musicology and Perspectives of New Music. His performing editions are published by Hal Leonard and Masters Music/Kalmus.
