Southern Miss Alumni Association

Time: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: Ogletree House 

Visit the historic Ogletree House, home to the Southern Miss Alumni Association. Open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., be sure to drop in to tour the building, review annuals from years past, grab Southern Miss memorabilia and update your alumni information cards, if applicable. 

Tailgate Party with Eagle Dining

Time: 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Location: Fresh Food Company

It's Go Gold Friday! Join us for our "Tailgate" themed lunch in the Fresh Food Company, Southern Miss's main dining hall, where we will have wings, hamburgers, dips, a nacho bar and more! Door entry is $11. Payment options include credit card, cash or a guest meal swipe.

Eagle's Nest Open House - The Eagle Eight

Time: 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Location: Eagle's Nest Pantry - located in the basement of The Hub (on the side of the building closest to M.M. Roberts Stadium, near the outside entrance to Seymour's)

The USM Eagle's Nest food pantry serves members of the USM community who are in need of food or other resources. During the first 4 months of 2019, the pantry had over 1,078 visitors and distributed over 5,000 pounds of food.  The pantry relies heavily on donations to keep its doors open. The Eagle Eight encompasses the top food needs at the pantry.  It includes canned milk; canned tuna or chicken; fruit cups; mac and cheese; spaghetti or macaroni noodles; spaghetti sauce; microwaveable meals; peanut butter and jelly. Please stop in and visit the Eagle's Nest facility. Contributions of the Eagle Eight and gently used cooking utensils (i.e., pots, pans, spoons, etc.) and eating utensils are welcomed. 

Tailgate at the Library

Time: 1 - 3 p.m.
Location: Cook Library

Stop by Cook Library between 1 and 3 p.m. for a closer look at the library’s services. Students and their families will receive a ticket to visit different areas of the library, meet their librarians, and be entered in a drawing every half hour. Tailgaters will also be able to take a look at some of our most popular items from Special Collections, such as manuscripts from popular young adult author John Green and Curious George. Before you go, snap a fun photo with your friends and family in our photo booth while enjoying refreshments.

Parent’s Academy: The Family | Communication & Technology in Relationships

Time: 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Location: Scianna Hall, Room 1048

Join us as we explore how new trends in technology impact our relationships with our partners, parents, children, siblings and friends. In this session we will explore: verbal and non-verbal communication, gender and cultural differences in communication, theories and principles of effective communication, and how to resolve conflicts effectively. The objective is for participants to understand the importance of communication, conflict resolution, and how technology impacts our methods of communication for better or worse. Whether your student is down the street or several hours away, this session may prove useful for you.

Live At Five

Time: 5 –9 p.m.
Location: Town Square Park, Downtown Hattiesburg, at the Corner of Buschman and Main Street, Hattiesburg 39401

Live at Five is a free, outdoor music event held at Town Square Park on Friday evenings during the spring and fall. This is a family-friendly event featuring a variety of musical genres. Bring your lawn chairs or a blanket, pack a cooler or grab a bite from a local food vendor! Kids can enjoy the free smart space while parents kick back and relax.

Piecing It All Together - The Art of Quilt Design  

Time: 12 - 3:30 p.m.
Location: The Gallery of Art and Design, located in the George Hurst Building, 104 Southern Miss Drive.

If you’ve ever wanted to take that “next step” and follow your own creative quilting path, this could be the starting point for you. Linda Beach will present a workshop about her approach to design, her piecing technique and how that technique influences her pattern drafting. From beginning fabric choices to final finished edges, the workshop will cover Linda’s process for creating pieced art quilts. This is not a hands-on workshop, but a tutorial to supply attendees with the information necessary to begin their projects at home. Beginner to Advanced. Basic operation of a sewing machine helpful. Eagle Walk

Time: 4 p.m.

The Eagle Walk is a celebration of the spirit of Southern Miss football and allows fans to cheer on the team before entering the stadium.
