Career Explorations for Girls Conference set for Sept. 25 at Southern Miss

The University of Southern Mississippi's annual Career Explorations for Girls Conference is set for Saturday, Sep.25 in Joseph Greene Hall on the Hattiesburg campus from 8 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.  Admission is free and lunch will be provided.

Designed to provide career insights for young women from leaders in various fields, the conference is coordinated by the Frances Karnes Center for Gifted Studies and sponsored in part by Forrest General Hospital. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Ann Blackwell, interim dean of the College of Education and Psychology at Southern Miss, who will present “Prepare Today for a Successful Tomorrow.” 

The conference is open to all girls in grades 7-12.  Each attendee must be accompanied by her mother or another adult female.  Enrollment in gifted education is not required.

Careers to be discussed at the conference include those in art, business, interior design, health care, nutrition, sports, technology, psychology, communication, education, marketing, science, law, finance, social work, architecture, real estate and music.
