Fans Can Leave Get-Well Messages for Injured Players Prior to Houston Game

Fans who want to leave a get-well message for three University of Southern Mississippi students injured in a recent off-campus shooting incident can do so Saturday from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Barnes and Noble bookstore on the Hattiesburg campus before the Southern Miss – Houston game.

Martez Smith, Tim Green and Deddrick Jones were shot at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday outside Remington's Hunt Club in Hattiesburg. All three are interdisciplinary studies majors and members of the Golden Eagle football team. They remain hospitalized in fair condition.

Green, a junior linebacker from Columbia, S.C., and Jones, a junior defensive lineman from Bastrop, La., played in the Golden Eagles' 31-21 Conference USA victory over the University of Central Florida. Smith, a senior linebacker from Canton, Miss., did not make the trip for the game because of a knee injury.
