Honor to Present 'The Art of Crisis Leadership' Issues + Answers Lecture

The Sun Herald and The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast College of Arts and Letters will present the Issues + Answers lecture, “The Art of Crisis Leadership: Lessons Learned Building a Culture of Preparedness,” with retired Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Fleming Education Center auditorium at the Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach.

Honoré, with 37 years of active service in the U.S. Army, commanded Joint Task Force – Katrina by leading the Department of Defense response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. He also oversaw the military response to the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy, the Washington, D.C., sniper shootings, and the military response to several other hurricanes, floods and other disasters.

This lecture, a part of the university's Centennial Celebration schedule of events, is free and open to the public. The Southern Miss Gulf Park campus is located on Highway 90 in Long Beach three miles west of Highway 49.
