Researchers from The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL) and the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR) will present a public briefing on the status of coastal fisheries research at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, in the Caylor Auditorium at GCRL.

Topics will include Mississippi's spotted seatrout population monitoring, cooperative tag and release programs, and efforts relative to the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster. Additionally, a DMR biologist will be on-hand to provide a program update.

Adults and young anglers are encouraged to attend. The program, which is free and open to anglers and the general public, will feature an open forum discussion and include door prizes and refreshments.
