Parenting Gifted Children Conference set for Nov. 6 at Southern Miss

Parents of gifted children can benefit from the knowledge of experts presenting at the Parenting Gifted Children conference at The University of Southern Mississippi Saturday, Nov. 6 on the Hattiesburg campus.
Coordinated by the Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies, the conference is open to parents, professionals and other adults interested in gifted child issues. Keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Debbie Troxclair, assistant professor in the Lamar University Professional Pedagogy Department, who will present “The Social and Emotional Needs of the Gifted.”
Conference sessions will focus on various topics, including “What Parents Should Know about Gifted Education in Mississippi”; “Building Learning Relationships with Your Gifted Child”; “Advocating for Your Gifted Child”; “Encouraging Your Gifted Child to Make a Difference Through Service Projects”; and “Continuous Progress Curriculum.”
The conference will be in Owings-McQuagge Hall, room 105, from 8 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Registration is $30 per person, and participants should sign in from 8-8:45 a.m.
