Day of Sharing for Teachers of the Gifted Nov. 5 at Southern Miss
HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The Day of Sharing for Teachers of the Gifted conference is set for Friday, Nov. 5 at The University of Southern Mississippi's Hattiesburg campus. Coordinated by the university's Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies, it will be from 8 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. in the R.C. Cook University Union, rooms A and B.
Keynote speaker for the event is Lamar University assistant professor of pedagogy Dr. Debbie Troxclair, whose presentation will focus on the social and emotional needs of the gifted.
There is no charge for the conference, but registration deadline is Oct. 30. Continuing education units will be available for $20. Participants should sign in from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in the R. C. Cook University Union.

Parenting Gifted Children Conference Nov. 6 at Southern Miss
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Parents, professionals and other concerned adults who care for or educate gifted children are invited to attend The University of Southern Mississippi's annual Parenting Gifted Children Conference Saturday, Nov. 6 on the university's Hattiesburg campus.
Coordinated through the university's Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies, the program will be held in Owings-McQuagge Hall, room 105 from 8 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Lamar University assistant professor of pedagogy Dr. Debbie Troxclair will be the keynote speaker and will present on the social and emotional needs of the gifted.
Additional sessions on various topics will also be available throughout the day.
The registration fee for this event is $30 per person and the registration deadline is Oct. 30. Professor's Scholarly Activity Include Book Review, Research, Conference Presentation
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Dr. Hani Morgan, an assistant professor in The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education, recently had a book review published in the Journal of American History titled “The G.I Bill: A new deal for veterans.”
He is also the recipient of a $40,000 grant from The Spencer Foundation for a research project titled “Culturally Authentic Children's Books,” for which he is the primary researcher. In addition, he presented the paper “The Ed.D. Degree: What is the Controversy All About?” at the Organization of Educational Historians annual conference, held Sept. 17-18 in Chicago.
