2011 National Sports Security Conference Attracts Sponsors, Exhibitors

Sponsors and exhibitors are lining up to be part of the 2nd Annual National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition set for Aug. 2-4 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans.

NaviGate™ by Lauren Innovations has signed on as the conference's platinum sponsor and will host the opening day's welcome reception from 5-7 p.m. in the exhibitor hall. NaviGate is a Web-based critical information system for safety and security purposes.

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has committed to a gold sponsorship, while Security magazine will serve as the media sponsor. Sponsorship opportunities remain in both of those categories as well as the silver and bronze levels.

The conference is under the direction of the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi. Last year's inaugural conference included a sell-out among vendors (43) and attendees (more than 300). NCS4 officials expect at least 400 attendees for the 2011 conference and have reserved space for as many as 56 exhibitors. Approximately one-third of that reserved space has already been taken by prospective exhibitors.

“Quite frankly, the response to last year's conference exceeded our expectations,” said Dr. Lou Marciani, NCS4 director. “We have every reason to believe that this year's conference and exhibition will become another sellout as sports safety and security continues to draw attention from professionals not only in our country but across the globe.”

Established in 2006, the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security was created to provide an interdisciplinary academic environment to further increase sport security awareness, improve sport security policies and procedures and enhance emergency response through evacuation, recovery operations and crowd management training.
