Southern Miss to Offer Programs in Management, Leadership Skills

The University of Southern Mississippi Office of Professional Development and Educational Outreach will offer a trio of programs in June focused on management and leadership.
Performance Coaching T.I.P.S. will be held on June 16 from 8 a.m.-noon at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg and June 30 from 8 a.m.-noon at Southern Miss Gulf Coast in Long Beach, Miss. The cost is $110. The workshop is designed to provide the knowledge and opportunity to develop practical and effective skills; to develop others, build creativity, instill values, communicate, build trust, motivate performance and empower others to dedicate their talent and energy through interactive exercises using case studies.
Coaching Skills for Counseling: Effective Discipline will be held on June 16 from 1-5 p.m. at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg and June 30 from 1-5 p.m. at Southern Miss Gulf Coast in Long Beach, Miss. The cost is $85. This workshop is designed to give attendees the tools to improve employee performance by improving daily/regular communication of job performance expectations and accomplishments using consistent process and resources or to legally terminate employment.
Essentials in Human Resource Management Professional Certificate is scheduled for June 23-24 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on the Southern Miss campus. The cost is $369 before June 10 and $419 after June 10. The program is designed to give attendees up-to-date practical knowledge and skills to assist in becoming more effective handling HR issues. An overview of the six key human resource management practices – human resource management, employment law, recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, employee development and performance management – will be covered.
