DuBard School for Language Disorders to Host Missing Links Seminar April 12-13

The University of Southern Mississippi's DuBard School for Language Disorders will hold the Missing Links in Academics seminar April 12-13 at the DuBard School for Language Disorders on the Hattiesburg campus.

The seminar, geared toward second through eighth grade teachers, reading specialists and speech-language pathologists, will focus on building reading and comprehension skills. Multisensory techniques for teaching the National Reading Panel five areas of reading, syllable types and syllable division rules, the use of morphemes as a way of increasing comprehension, and various ways of building reading fluency will be covered.

The seminar is approved for 1.2 continuing education units for educators and speech-language pathologists.

The two-day event will run from 8:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m. each day. The fees are $250, regular registration and $275, late registration after March 28. The fees include instructional materials and lunch.
