The University of Southern Mississippi will welcome film and television actor and author Rick Lenz as part of the Honors Forum series Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. The event, hosted by the College of Arts and Letters and Honors College, will be held in room 103 of the Trent Lott Center on the Hattiesburg campus.

In his lecture, “The Mixed Joys of Show Business,” Lenz will discuss his first book, “North of Hollywood,” which is a compelling autobiography detailing one of the busiest acting careers of the late 20th century.  He is also currently finishing a novel titled Redeeming Norma Jean.

“We're delighted to have Rick Lenz speak to our students,” said Dr. David Davies, Dean of the Honor College. “We expect his account of the lessons he learned from Hollywood to offer a fascinating perspective to our students.”

Lenz has starred in a variety of films and television shows over the years and has worked with Goldie Hawn, John Wayne, Lucille Ball, Elizabeth Taylor and many other Hollywood legends. His film credits include Melvin and Howard, Malice in Wonderland and The Shootist

He has also appeared on the television shows Murder She Wrote, The Practice, Dynasty and Green Acres and has won two Los Angeles Dramalogue Awards as a playwright.

This lecture is free and open to the public.  For more information, contact the Southern Miss Honors College by calling 601.266.4533.
