Excellence in Research and Creative Activity Presentations set for Nov. 8

The University Research Council at The University of Southern Mississippi will host presentations by the 2013 Excellence in Research and Creative Activity award winners Friday, Nov. 8, during the annual University Research Awards Day.

This event recognizes outstanding researchers, scholars, innovators and performers among Southern Miss faculty each year. It showcases faculty scholarship and creative activities in various colleges, and features recipients of the Innovation Awards. Presentations of research will be held in the Thad Cochran Center, Ballroom I on the Hattiesburg campus.

The schedule, including presenters, the academic areas they represent and award, is as follows:

*8:30 - 9:05 a.m. - Ed Jackson, Anthropology - Academic Partnerships Award

*9:10 - 9:40 a.m. - Mike Madson, Psychology - Applied Research Award

*9:45 - 10:20 a.m. - Scott Piland, Human Performance/Recreation, Multidisciplinary Research Award

*10:25 a.m. - 11 a.m. - Steven Barthelme, English, Creative Activity Award

*11:05 a.m. - 11:40 a.m. - Alan Shiller, Marine Science, Basic Research Award

*11:45 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. – Sabine Heinhorst, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Lifetime Research Award
