The University of Southern Mississippi's Lady Eagles basketball team has taken a shine to one of the brightest lights on the University's campus, and the feeling is mutual.

The Children's Center for Communication and Development will be featured and recognized on Sunday, Feb. 24 by the Lady Eagles at their home game against the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

Honorary coaches from The Children's Center will join the Lady Eagles in the locker room and on the court for pre-game activities. Honorary coaches will include several children currently enrolled at The Children's Center. The Lady Eagles and Southern Miss Athletics Department have generously provided families from The Children's Center with tickets to the game.

The Children's Center, a United Way agency, is a clinical program within the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. Opened nearly 40 years ago, The Children's Center provides exemplary, direct early intervention services for infants, toddlers and preschoolers with a wide range of communication and developmental disabilities.

Children and families throughout Mississippi benefit from The Children's Center's experience and expertise through consultations, outreach, partnerships and training.  The Children's Center annually trains dozens of Southern Miss students along with students from other Mississippi universities and community colleges.
