The School of Music at The University of Southern Mississippi is proud to announce auditions for Showbizz Showstoppers, a one-night-only spectacular featuring showstoppping numbers
from Broadway's best musicals.

Open to all including faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members, the auditions will take place in the museum space between the Fine Arts Building and the Mannoni Performing Arts Center on the Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30.

“We are thrilled to offer this opportunity to our talented community,” said Dr. Mike Lopinto, event director.

Auditionees are required to bring sheet music to a “showstopping selection,” the eleven o'clock number, title song or stand-out selection from a traditional Broadway musical (no cabaret or off-Broadway) and a humorous selection, also from a traditional musical. An accompanist will be provided. No recorded music is allowed, though singing a capella is permitted. More information may be found at www.usm.edu/music/showbizz-showstoppers.

Though the performances aren't until the spring, auditions take place early to allow the production team time to craft a show around the talent, rehearse special numbers and plan for a spectacular evening, slated for April 11, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lake Terrace Convention Center. Tickets for the event will go on sale in early 2014.
