Southern Miss Coach Purchases Tickets for Students to Wednesday's NIT Opener

Mon, 03/18/2013 - 10:37am

University of Southern Mississippi head basketball coach Donnie Tyndall has purchased 1,000 tickets for students to this Wednesday's NIT opener against Charleston Southern, scheduled for 8:15 p.m.

The first 1,000 students will need to show a valid Southern Miss ID at the student gate at Reed Green Coliseum, which will open at 7 p.m. Once those tickets are given away, students will need to pay $5 at the ticket office.

This will be Southern Miss' ninth NIT appearance, and the first since 2001. The Golden Eagles have a 6-7 record all-time in the NIT. Southern Miss won the NIT title in 1987. It is also just the fourth time that Southern Miss will host a postseason game.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Southern Miss and Charleston Southern.
