Tue, 10/21/2014 - 11:04am

The 16th annual Shell Finish Line/Alumni Homecoming Golf Tournament will be held Friday, Nov. 7 at the Hattiesburg Country Club.

The 16th annual Shell Finish Line/Alumni Homecoming Golf Tournament will be held at Hattiesburg Country Club, the official country club of the Southern Miss Alumni Association, Friday, Nov. 7. The tournament will kick off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. in conjunction with The University of Southern Mississippi's Homecoming festivities.

Southern Miss alumni and friends are invited to form teams of four to participate in the scramble hosted by the Alumni Association. The $150 all-inclusive entry fee includes golf, tee prize, two mulligans, entry into the 5/5/5 and putting contests, beverages and lunch. Prizes will be awarded for the low gross and low net scores, closest to the hole and longest drive.

There are 124 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis. Proceeds from the annual tournament allow select children and grandchildren of Southern Miss alumni to receive one-time, $1,000 scholarships through the Association's Robert D. Pierce II Legacy Scholars Program.

“Not only does the tournament offer the opportunity for alumni, friends and supporters of Southern Miss to come together each fall to reconnect, it has evolved into a large piece of the annual campaign to raise funds to promote and support the Legacy Scholars Program,” shared Jerry DeFatta, executive director for the Southern Miss Alumni Association. “Last year, the event allowed the Association to award a record number of Legacy Scholarships, and we will aggressively continue our efforts to increase that number year after year.”
