Diversity Week Scheduled for Nov. 17-20 on the Gulf Park Campus

The University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach will host Diversity Week Nov. 17-20. The schedule of events will highlight the diverse Southern Miss community, and all students, faculty and staff are invited to participate.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Monday – Friday, Nov. 17-20

  • Display: Resources for Diversity, Library, 2nd Floor, 8 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 17

  • Lunch and Learn: The Diversity of You: Understanding Personality Types, Fleming Education Center 104, 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 18

  • Free HIV Screenings, Health Center, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Lunch and Learn: Clean & Gay, It's OK to be That Way: Being LGBTQ and in Recovery, Fleming Education Center 104, 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Film Screening: deepsouth, Hardy Hall Ballroom, 4 – 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 19

  • Lunch and Learn: Women in Science: Why So Few, Fleming Education Center 104, 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Lecture and Learn: Laughing to Keep from Crying: Race, Humor & Boundary Maintenance, Fleming Education Center 104, 5 – 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 20

  • Free Henna Tattoo, Fleming Education Center Rotunda, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Lunch and Learn: Explore the Opportunities of Studying Abroad, Fleming Education Center 104, 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Film Screening: Freedom for Birth, Fleming Education Center 104, 6 – 7:30 p.m.

Diversity Week is organized by the Division of Student Affairs at Southern Miss Gulf Park. Special thanks to the Alliance for Equality, Gulf Coast Library, International Programs, Think Center, Indian Student Association, Health Center and Women's & Gender Studies Program on the Gulf Park Campus, as well as community partners, Mississippi Gulf Coast Rainbow Center and Mississippi Friends of Midwives, for their involvement in Diversity Week.
